Sauk Prairie High School Pools
Prairie du Sac, WI
In 2020, the Sauk Prairie Pool District passed a $64.9 million referendum to modernize Sauk Prairie High School and replace aging athletic and recreational facilities. The school district used a portion of this funding package to invest in student athletes and young swimmers. A new, $12 million aquatic facility with a seating capacity of about 700 replaced the former one, which was part of Sauk Prairie High School’s original construction in 1968. Plunkett Raysich Architects (PRA) selected Ramaker to provide aquatic design and engineering services for the new aquatic facility.
Aquatic engineering and design for Sauk Prairie High School
As members of the Sauk Prairie community, Ramaker’s employee-owners were eager to work with PRA, the school district, and the Sauk Prairie Recreation Department to design an eight-lane, 25-yard competition swimming pool as well as a warm water four-lane lesson pool with a beach entry for young swimmers. Having first evaluated the high school’s pre-existing pool for improvements in 2017, the firm’s aquatics team was excited to help the new pools come to life. The facility will meet current and future demands for instructional, competitive, therapeutic, and recreational swimming opportunities.
The aquatic facility opened for the 2021-22 girls swim season.
Earlier in 2021, Ramaker helped the Sauk Prairie School District and Sauk Prairie Recreation Department update the Sauk Prairie outdoor pool and the facility’s iconic bathhouse. The firm provided architectural design, aquatic design, and aquatic engineering services for the renovations.
