The Rise of Icarus: America’s Tallest Waterslide Earns Leading Edge Award
[OCTOBER 25, 2024; LAS VEGAS, NV] —The Rise of Icarus at Mt Olympus Resort Water & Theme Park, America’s tallest waterslide has been selected for multiple industry awards.
The World Waterpark Association (WWA) presented Mt. Olympus and project partners Ramaker, WhiteWater, and Holtz Builders, Inc. a Leading Edge Award for their efforts in the design and construction of this innovative waterpark feature. The award was announced at the WWA’s 44th Annual Symposium & Trade Show on October 9, 2024.
This record-breaking water feature opened to the public at the Mt. Olympus Outdoor Waterpark over Memorial Day Weekend. At 145 ft, The Rise of Icarus is America’s Tallest Waterslide! Guests can test their bravery on one of five body slides or enjoy the adjacent 12,000 sf spray and play area, which features an additional ten water slides and a wading pool for their younger guests!
Mt. Olympus is no stranger to record-breaking attractions, with their park continuing to push the boundaries of waterpark fun in the Wisconsin Dells. In 2022, Medusa’s SlideWheel first opened to guests. The first of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, the SlideWheel towers 74 feet above Wisconsin Dells Parkway. In addition to being a thrilling rider, the massive Slidewheel serves as a mind-bending billboard for water park fun. Other exciting waterpark features at Mt. Olympus include the 50,000 sf Poseidon’s Rage wave pool with its 9 ft waves and the 12,000 SF Great Pool of Delphi leisure pool as well as the gigantic Lost City of Atlantis water play structure – outstanding opportunities for family fun!
The WWA presents Leading Edge Awards to service providers and suppliers who have introduced new concepts, products, or services that benefit park members, guests, or the waterpark industry at large and to parks that develop new themes, services, or operational concepts. At a ceremony during WWA’s annual symposium, Ramaker accepted the Leading Edge Award along with representatives from Mt Olympus, WhiteWater, and Holtz Builders. Other key contributors to the success of this project include: Tschanz Construction (waterslide installation), Allen Steele, Inc. (site construction), United Electric (electrical), Life Floor (wading pool safety surfacing), and Badger Swimpools, Inc. (pool construction).
This is not the first time the WWA has recognized Ramaker. The firm also received a Leading Edge Award in 2021 for Tsunami Surge at Six Flags Great America and in 2018 for its contributions to Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Additionally, the Rise of Icarus was honored with the Golden Ticket Award for Best New Water Park Ride of 2024 from Amusement Today. Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Awards honor the “best of the best” in the amusement industry, highlighting the parks and attractions around the world that provide top-notch thrills and entertainment.
